12/12/2001 - I'm Not Afraid of That!
I have two,soon-to-be released picture books that I illustrated coming out in Jan. 2012! "I'm Not Afraid of That" was written by Trine Grillo. It is a wonderful book about a boy who waves with the wind, splashes in puddles,and generally loves playing outside with his grandmother."The Four Friends" written by Renee LeVerrier is another picture book.This book is based on a folktale from Bhutan. The message is timeless and the afterword includes information and a web address to learn more about this interesting country. Book Event Update - Dec 3 2011
On Saturday, Dec 3rd, at 2PM I will be holding a Book Event at the Art Center , 11 North Street, Plymouth, MA. Please join me for a fun afternoon exploring some of the books I have illustrated. I am focusing on I'm Nocturnal, How About You?, a picture book that introduces the animals of the night living here in New England. There will be books for sale, free coloring pages, and a signing will follow the presentation. For further information contact the Center at 508-746-7222.
On April 13th, 2011 I will be conducting an In-service program for all Plymouth School pre-school teachers. I will focus on the illustrator's view point and introduce some of the visual language used in the creation of picture books. Contact Mary Mello if interested in learning more.
Please join me on Saturday, August 28th from 2 to 4 PM at Where the Sidewalk Ends Bookstore in Chatham, MA. This is a special event because the Donna Giffune,(author) and I,(illustrator)will be co-hosting this celebration of our picture book "I Love You with My Heart". On Tuesday, April 13th, I will be giving a book presentation on "Emma and the Mashed Potato Monster" at South Elementary in Plymouth,MA from 1 to 3:00PM.
On Thursday, May 6th, as part of a family night at Newfield House in Plymouth,MA, I will be giving a Power Point presentation on "I Love You with My Heart". The event starts at 6:30PM and there will be balloons, an art activity, and an ice cream sunday party for the children.
On Monday, May 13th,starting at 7:00PM, at the New Art Forum (in the Yellow Barn) on Main Street in Kingston, MA, I will be giving a lecture on illustrating picture books and presenting a Power Point slide show on "Emma and the Mashed Potato Monster".
